Tasting notes
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Oily and sour – sour cherries and unripe plums trodden into the ground in a mechanic’s garage. Cardamom and cumin add spice, with a distinct hit of oak.
Palate: Sour fruit and oil carries through. Orange and grapefruit zest and pith lifts things and bring bitterness, while earthy coffee grounds, sea salt and green hops add depth and funk.
Finish: Trail mix, that green, funky character, which dissipates into sour milk.
Comment: Really intriguing. Layers of complexity scream ‘winter dram’. For when the nights draw in…
9.3
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Dunnage warehouses and alcohol soaked oak. That sherry rancio leading the way, linseed oil, a vegetal almost sour plum note to it. A big wood note comes up at the end.
Palate: Coating and oily, that sherry dominates, then comes damp ground coffee, citrus and a little saltiness, like salad pretzels.
Finish: Sour plums and a warming alcohol note.
Comment: The sourness of it becomes quite addictive, like those sour sweets, it fizzes and leaves you wanting more.
