Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Pineapple juice and ripe mango, marshmallow, lemon and orange fruit pastilles, toasted white bread and butter with marmalade. Madagascan vanilla essence and, with water, more fresh lemon and lime zest.
Palate: Delicate. Those citrus and tropical notes are joined by a touch of white pepper and caramel.
Finish: Medium length. Gently drying, with caramel and cinnamon.
Comment: Fruit forward and distillate driven, which I really respect, but the nose over-promises.

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: Cherry bakewell sweetness, candied peels, dried papaya, key lime pie, almond flakes, a little drying nutmeg. Freshly baked rye bread spice, gingerbread men and an underlying note of warm vanilla.
Palate: A little pencil eraser, rather light, and the fruit has died away leaving some vanilla creaminess. It’s dry and spicy, with chilli chocolate warmth, and a lingering gentle dried tropical fruit note.
Finish: Red berry tang and sandalwood on the medium to short finish.
Comment: The palate was more delicate than I expected from the nose.
