Tasting notes
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Gorgeous cream and limes, with buttermilk followed by custard powder. Pear juice. Heavy on barley, with honey, green tea, peach and gooseberry. Minuscule traces of ash.
Palate: The ashiness is bound tightly with herbal notes: bay leaves, fennel, sage and then that barley heft. Pear drops and a hint of pink grapefruit. Assam tea.
Finish: Walnuts and ground almonds, with a thread of chilli peppers and honeyed green tea.
Comment: An excellent, complex, subtle and slightly unusual offering. One for all seasons.
8.9
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Bright and tangy tangerine and tangerine leaf, physalis, vanilla, fresh wood shavings, honeysuckle and wet tarmac.
Palate: Toffee precedes a big bouquet of orange citrus fruits, numbing anise, cooling menthol and a slightly soapy texture. The remains of a bonfire smouldering in the drizzle.
Finish: There’s a distinct granitic quality to the finish. I feel like I’m chewing a mountain. In a good way.
Comment: Some great twists and turns in this helter skelter of a whisky.
