Tasting notes

Taster Neil Ridley

Nose: Soft leather, a touch of incense, very sweet vanilla custard, some mossiness and a light smokiness.
Palate: Dried ginger, sweet peat, some Italian spices and a dusting of black pepper.
Finish: The pepper and peat are subtly matched, alongside a little dry red apple skin.
Comment: Warming, intelligent and well made as well.

Taster Annabel Meikle

Nose: Lush tropical fruits of mango, papaya and fresh pineapple juice. Honey on the comb and golden syrup make you want to dive right in. Maltose, mash tuns and brown gummed envelopes as well.
Palate: Grated raw ginger, fresh wood shavings. Mirin wine, strange glycerin. Hint of toffee and an earthy character hard to define.
Finish: Lively, coating and then drying.
Comment: It perplexed me as the nose was so inviting but I felt the flavour was at odds with itself.
