Tasting notes

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: Quite resinous up front, then dry pencil sharpening, coconut shavings, rice pudding vanilla notes. A little stewed fruit and nail varnish remover are competing, with a touch of cocoa butter, dry ginger spice and a herbal edge.
Palate: Dry herbal notes of thyme, with fir trees, candied fruit, cigar box. Some rich fruit cake, almond oil and an almost leathery note. Warming ginger that’s a little drying, but sweet.
Finish: Medium finish that leaves warmth and that herbal note.
Comment: Some real complexity here.

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Pencil shavings, orange squash, cedar-wood blocks, and caramel-poached apricots. Lemon zest top notes and a whiff of thyme. Lots of soft brown sugar too.
Palate: Medium body, with dried pineapple, gentle black tea tannin, and muscovado. Juicy papaya, candied ginger, capsicum, and glace cherry. The sweetness intensifies with water.
Finish: Caps things off with more brown sugar and gentle tannins dry things out to finish back with thyme.
Comment: A very good show from this Indian single malt.
