Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Real easy opener here, doesn't hide its island roots. Melon, cinnamon and sweet, salty Parma ham. Then the sweetness builds with honeycomb and chocolate, and in comes the peat, soft almost caramel and floral.
Palate: Pretty much follows the palate, very balanced between those soft peat notes and moreish sweet, juicy melon and ham flavours.
Finish: Fairly snappy in that it doesn't hang about. Leaves a little sweet peat coating and lingering smoke notes.
Comment: A belter of an Islay, everything you could want and more.

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Sweet peat, heather honey and eucalyptus. Cloves and Five Spice. Toffee fudge, milk chocolate, sultanas and cinnamon.
Palate: Vibrant peat, balanced with heather honey and cinnamon. Syrup, vanilla, raisins. Subtleties fade, and becomes blunter –(lovely) peat, apricots, orchard fruits and nutmeg.
Finish: Mid-length to short, but oily and slightly peppery; walnuts and chocolate.
Comment: A classic example of this sort.The kind of approachable Islay that will end up charming most.
