Tasting notes
Taster   Jim Murray
Nose: Big, with a distinct whiff of peat fire.
Palate: Immediately spicy and quite sweet with the toasty malt hitting the taste buds hard. A sublime oiliness spreads over the palate allowing the cocoa oakiness to catch hold.
Finish: Long and effortlessly oaky with burnt raisins adding a lovely bittersweet twist.
Comment: An absolute gem whose enormity at first disguises its remarkable charm and complexity.
8.8
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Sweet at first. Honeydew melons? Then leafy: a suggestion of sorrel? A hint of grass and peat smoke.
Palate: Lightly honeyish, becoming creamy. quite rich, leathery. Some peat.
Finish: Dry, big. Gingery. Black treacle. Smoky, sulphury, heady.
Comment: A robust malt, but with many subtleties of character.
