Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Dusty old oak, a walk through a forest after the first rains in Autumn. Hazelnuts, almonds, and pecan pie. Coffee grinds. Cherry Lockets (cough sweets).
Palate: The cherry cough sweets and a slight medicinal note gives this a true feel of pre-prohibition, doctor-prescribed liquor. A good balance of bitter and sweet notes.
Finish: The bitter, liquorice notes first, then the sweet, coffee notes second.
Comment: An interesting and complex Bourbon, which needs to be sipped and savoured.
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Youthful, herbal and marc-like with dark rye flakes. Coffee and treacle add a touch of balancing sweetness and with time a hint of violet and subtle vanilla oak appears.
Palate: Smoky with herbal marc, but more noticeable corn. Edgy rye intensifies the herbal marc notes but some light corn oil and wheat flake notes balance.
Finish: Good, spicy finish with an almost chilli pepper hotness and a fair amount of drying wood tannins.
Comment: A lovely rye-heavy Bourbon with the right amount of alcohol to intensify the spices.
