Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Warm crumpets with marmalade, Weetabix and full fat milk, sweet and grainy. A little saline, hot river stones and saltine crackers. Exotic spices, garam masala and cumin, then dark cherry and chocolate. Fresh pastries and warm bread crusts.
Palate: Huge sweetness, then the cherry rolls in. Bakery Belgian buns, icing sugar and almond croissants. Menthol too, and sherbet candy.
Finish: Just keeps giving waves of tobacco smoke and roast almonds.
Comment: Breath-taking. A benchmark for wheat whiskeys.

Taster Lyndsey Gray

Nose: A huge box made of pine needles and toffee popcorn, fizzy cherry bottles and cantaloupe melon. Then freshly cut wood aroma that lingers in your dad’s shed.
Palate: A sour note, washed down with melon and nectarine smoothies and barbequed kiwis. Then some shoe polish, oak roasted ham and torched heather sprigs.
Finish: A sensationally sweet, buttery texture with charred fruits and musky florals.
Comment: Continental breakfasts served up in the woodshed.
