Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Malty and grassy. Lemon balm. Lots of heather honey. Dry hay and meadow flowers. Cheerful charming nose. Dried apple skin.
Palate: Smooth and sweet. Silky texture but with a crisp twist, like raw silk. Orange curd. Oat biscuits. Drying on a rich spicy festoon.
Finish: Dry and spicy. Lingering.
Comment: A rich and enticing whisky. Complex aromatic layers. Clean and crisp. Water enhances the citrus notes.
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Pungent aromas of wet cardboard and musty sherry spice. Hard barley can be detected along with coffee, herbs and light peat smoke.
Palate: Edgy, brittle barley and honey, but the honey isn't deep or sweet enough to offset the industrial character. Some earthy, bitter spice arrives on the middle with a touch of vanilla and alcohol.
Finish: Long and sweeter as the honey and oak comes through, the finish is rather hot.
Comment: Malts with this sort of industrial style need sweetness to balance. For me, it’s not really there.
