Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Pungent, deep and rum-like aromas of sultana and raisin. Honey balances the gritty grain notes. Oak adds cocoa, tobacco and earth. A little floral with hyacinth and acacia notes.
Palate: Wow! Bold and intense with no shortage of wood spice and soft grain. Honey balances adding a sweet sheen to the dried fruits. Alcohol intensifies the spiciness.
Finish: Long and utterly gorgeous. Lingering dried fruit and spice. A little drying perhaps with tobacco notes.
Comment: Now, there’s a full-bodied grain. If you are still not convinced by great Scottish grain, then buy this!

Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Dream topping, sweet vanilla custard and lily of the valley combine to give a fresh yet seemingly well aged nose.
Palate: The palate moved from the sweetness of the nose to burnt embers, pulled pork and cranberry. The oak has had a bittering effect on the liquid leaving a robust whisky behind.
Finish: Hints of menthol, basil and empty coal scuttle.
Comment: This is not the light and delicate whisky that the nose suggests. A bit of a Jekyll and Hyde affair.
