Tasting notes
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Creamy, nutty, lightly peaty.
Palate: Full-bodied. Decidedly silky-smooth. Spiced cake. Candied lemon peels. Lots of flavour development.
Finish: Smoky, rooty, treacly. Impeccable balance between sweetness and dryness.
Comment: The obvious sherry ageing really suits Blair Athol. It is a malt that matures quickly, and this is very sophisticated for its age. A lovely whisky.
7.8
Taster   Jim Murray
Nose: A clean, uncomplicated and rather sweet sherry aroma partially smothers a slightly off-key sub strata.
Palate: Again more massive sweet sherry and surprisingly smoky amid the malt.
Finish: A bitter, rather sharp finale which becomes increasingly dry.
Comment: About as uncomplicated as it gets. Has improved on recent years, though.
