Tasting notes

Taster Becky Paskin

Nose: Dried straw, macadamias and raw, proving bread dough, like baguettes lined on a tin waiting to go into the oven.
Palate: Bready and dry with spicy black pepper, long grass and eucalyptus. There’s a silky icing sugar and caramel sweetness, while lemon drops and lemon thyme provide a herby, citrus lift.
Finish: Mentholic, minty, lemony and long with a touch of spice.
Comment: A really refreshing rye whiskey from California.

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Fresh warm sourdough with butter and sour cherry jam. Toasted marshmallows, packets of wine gum sweets. A little writing ink, new pine furniture. Grilled peaches.
Palate: Gently oily and warming. There’s sweetness from the marshmallows here, but also a malty side with oatmeal and honey cookies as well.
Finish: Warm and engaging, fizzing a little at the end like cherry cola cubes and sherbet.
Comment: A nice simple straightforward rye with everything you might want; and summer is coming too.
