Taster Christopher Coates
Nose: Dusty hayloft, cedarwood, cherry brandy, dark chocolate, ginger root, chinotto and black treacle.
Palate: Light-medium bodied. Caramel, coffee liqueur, sweet red berry fruits (strawberry, blackberry, cherry), orange oils, sage and wonderfully bittersweet, reminiscent of amaro, though the sweetness wins out.
Finish: Medium. ‘Green’ notes of cucumber and apple core emerge, but the berries remain.
Comment: A complex and balanced single malt, with some youthful character that suggests it will get even better.
