Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: A very gentle cherry menthol note at first; new oak staves give some wood tannins. Then moves into fresh pastry, marzipan and caramel toffee pieces.
Palate: Similar to the nose, gentle and very rich. Apricot juice, has a real clotted cream richness to it. A hint of sweet and sour sauce, pineapple and chilli. The heat builds throughout.
Finish: Spices start to build – that pineapple and chilli note lingers.
Comment: Gentle until that huge heat and spice layer builds up. You think it’s going to be simple but it’s anything but that.

Taster Sam Coyne

Nose: Vegetable notes upfront, yet they give way to caramelised sweetness and pastel de nata. Bit different. Then we get a few stone fruits in there.
Palate: Follows the nose. Starts green, with herbal notes, it's more menthol than expected. Here comes the sweetness. Cooked Danish pastries, and faint hints of cinnamon spice at the back.
Finish: Fleeting. Swaps between herbal and sweet nicely.
Comment: Classy and yet still easy drinking. Well worth having a bottle around the house for nights in with friends.
