Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Closed and tight at first, not giving much away. Hints of peppery spice and milk chocolate pennies. Rich caramel and dark chocolate dipped orange.
Palate: Initially follows the nose in the gentle stakes then the heat ramps up with that pepper spice prickle. Then soothing chocolate notes with a marshmallow sweetness. Smoke too but a gentle peat hit.
Finish: Lingering with that pepper spice tingling and dark chocolate orange.
Comment: Takes time and hides its beauty, but worth exploring.

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Not much going on at first – it’s weak tropical fruits, green apples, some vague grassiness, grapefruits and melon. Lots of subtleties, with ginger and toffee to boot.
Palate: Maybe lacks a little flavour; dried apricots, but very peppery. A few herbal notes. Water kills anything that’s going on.
Finish: Oily, mildly fruity, but short on flavours - even if the spirit notes last a little longer.
Comment: A bit samey.
