Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Sawdust, lily of the valley, daffodil, gentian, and jasmine. Cut grass and pipe tobacco. Fresh leather and very subtle rubber and acetone (it’s pleasant). Slightly sappy. With time and water, tree bark, tarragon, and camphor.
Palate: Medium-light bodied. Apricot, liquorice, sage, water chestnut and plum sauce. Then comes candied orange, blackberry and black cherry. Some heat, but mellows with water.
Finish: Long, on orange and blackberry.
Comment: Immensely distinctive and complex. Definitely worth trying this Kiwi.

Taster Bethany Whymark

Nose: Fresh parsley, coriander and celery tops initially. Then cream-laced porridge with spiced apple, candied pineapple, graham cracker and a little sweet bonfire smoke.
Palate: Medium bodied. Burnt sugar on a crème brûlée, and candied orange peel. Rye crackers. Roast pork and cider gravy. Then a slight rubbery note emerges.
Finish: Medium, on rye toast with orange marmalade.
Comment: This presented some deliciously intriguing flavours.
