Tasting notes

Taster Sophie Donovan

Nose: Raisins and chocolate, warming woody notes, vanilla, honeycomb, almost Bourbon-like, there's candied orange peel too.
Palate: Smooth and rich, plenty of dried fruits, more raisins, marmalade, dark toffeeand chocolate with lots of Christmas cake spices.
Finish: Long with subtle lingering spices. Very warming.
Comment: Sherry and Bourbon goodness, quite unusual for Benriach. Perfect for theseautumnal evenings.

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Beeswax, honeycomb, a heady floral note, heather in bloom, then a herbaledge creeps in, waxed paper, sweet wrappers, new Barbour jackets.
Palate: Soft black fruits, meringue nests, honey, but also a savoury note: goats cheese, malt bread and oak shavings.
Finish: Sweet then some bitter oak, not a bad thing though.
Comment: A well balanced integrated dram.
