Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Another slow and gentle starter, in time heady creamy vanilla notes come out, Fruit and Nut chocolate bars and then a subtle smoke and floral edge starts to emerge, heather in bloom and gorse flowers.
Palate: The flavours really explode here with that rich chocolate and nutty. Then the smoke unfurls with warming cinnamon spices and hints of fruit.
Finish: Short, sharp and tangy like Chardonnay with a little drying smoke too.
Comment: An interesting layered blend that intrigues slowly.
8.2
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Fresh and citrusy, but made up of very light aromas: kiwi, cut grass, straw, hay barns. Melons and grapefruit, with the lemon curd note and vanilla dominating later.
Palate: Better than the nose thick spirit delivering oranges, salted caramel, olive oil, apricots and raisins, with some peppery, clove-like warmth that isn’t too tannic. Grassy, herbal; dried tea.
Finish: Short on fun, but long on the blander grassy and citrus notes.
Comment: Pleasing. Strength brings intensity of flavours it wouldn’t otherwise have.
