Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: There are some really interesting notes here; earthy, but not smoky, like a mushroom omelette simmering in a pan. It’s quite inviting, if you like that sort of thing.
Palate: A little unbalanced but some great old oily, rum sweet flavours which bolster out this broad whisky. A dash of water opens it up and reveals cherry stones and cinnamon.
Finish: Great age on the finish, a well-matured spirit which has worked well with the oak.
Comment: The aroma and finish score higher than the palate, but it’s still a high scoring dram.

Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Mature sherry with dried prune, fig, apricot and liquorice. Walnuts, earth and subtle, sweet wood smoke. Some perfumed orange appears.
Palate: Sweet treacle, liquorice and prunes. Quite tannic and drying but the sweetness balances and a touch of spiced, orange conserve, prune and walnut comes through.
Finish: Long and mouth-watering with the alcohol emphasising the spices. Finally the grain component appears.
Comment: A heavily sherried, high malt content blend with some maturity.
