Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Similar to walking into a dunnage warehouse, damp wood, lingering alcohol and earthy notes, think damp tweed and Barbour jackets. Then it morphs into lemon posset, trail mix and dried fruit.
Palate: Coating and waxy but packed with those citrus fruits. Sugar coated almonds. A hint of tobacco, grilled chops and dark treacle.
Finish: Clingy but pretty short and hints of spice remaining behind.
Comment: A graceful old whisky, a little deflating on the finish given the brilliant palate.

Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Not especially forthcoming. Eventually there’s a pleasingly industrial note of engine oil, and linseed oil, that gives way to tons of vanilla and citrus.
Palate: Gentle, oily, but boring: citrus, grass and vanilla, with black pepper and coriander. There’s a nice meaty streak, boiled ham glazed with marmalade. A nice spirit at the core.
Finish: Short, oily, and herbal. Pepper and grassiness linger.
Comment: The wood just didn’t give much; lacks the diversity of flavours.
