Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Sawn oak, golden syrup and candied ginger. Pencil lead, olive oil, and peach cordial. A little hibiscus. Buttery biscuit base.
Palate: Full bodied. Concentrated fruit flavours, including pineapple, banana, and plum. Delicate lychee in the back. Underpinned by very subtle sweet cereal notes.
Finish: Pistachio and red apple fades slowly.
Comment: This is a complex and well-balanced dram. Bravo.

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: Wensleydale cheese with cranberry, luxurious resinous notes, pea pods and sage. Crème caramel and a lot of heat.
Palate: Rapidly developing spice warmth, redcurrants and cinnamon. Oily sweet caramel, green stalks, electric cables and toffee fudge sundae there too.
Finish: Savoury post-Wensleydale drying, with cranberry sweetness and green stalks.
Comment: HOT. A drop of water does wonders to allow you to really enjoy all that’s going on.
