Tasting notes
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Elemental. Sweet peat, and maritime notes: spray, citrus and vegetative. Smoked oysters. Honey. Sweet tablet. Sauce on a bacon roll. Very attractive.
Palate: Viscous and heady. Salty citrus plays nicely with sweet peat, like salted caramel. A maritime dram: smoked salmon, with tea. Floral honey. Tobacco.
Finish: Green tea, lemon, honey, chewy apricots and tobacco. Mouthwatering.
Comment: Brilliant execution. Delightful, complex, well-crafted whisky. A rare find.

Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Dominant aroma of oatcakes, smeared with seaweed and disinfectant. Water brings sharp lemons and tangerines, seagrass and lemon-scented floor cleaner.
Palate: Like sucking on a lump of coal that’s been rolled in vanilla, while bonfire smoke wafts by. Drying sea salt, more of that seaweed and a banana toffee chew, plus some liquorice root.
Finish: TCP, banana and vanilla.
Comment: I love my peat, but it dominates to the detriment of others here, else I would have marked it even higher.
