Tasting notes
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Damson and chocolate, Ribena, redcurrants and cranberry sauce. Elderberries. Jammy, with maple syrup. The club room, Chesterfield, ink and polish.
Palate: Heck of a job balancing flavours. Black cherries, redcurrants with pontack mustiness. Assam and jam tarts with a cigar. Passata. Nutmeg.
Finish: It doesn’t. I kid – jammy, chewy, peppery with tobacco and musty. Long.
Comment: I swooned. If you like sherried whisky, this is balanced and slightly different.
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Oloroso sherry and wood varnish. The classic nuts, raisins and dates alongside some candied orange peel, glacé cherries and toffee, not to mention used coffee grounds.
Palate: It’s all about the toast. Freshly varnished toasted wood, slightly burnt brown walnut bread, bitter marmalade and a dollop of sulphur.
Finish: There’s a mouthcoating consistency to this that ensures the flavours linger on and on – no doubt helped by the high ABV.
Comment: For sherry fans, this is your gal.
