Tasting notes

Taster Joel Harrison

Nose: Punchy tones of smoke grapefruit, tinned pineapple and vintage pomade.
Palate: Tonka bean, popping candy and peat smoke are the order of the day here, with some more pineapple juice and a good dollop of grapefruit again.
Finish: Chamois leather and smoke.
Comment: I really like this. Right up my street for a good, solid, peaty whisky.

Taster Chris Goodrum

Nose: A lovely subtlety hinting at some age. Plenty of sweet barley and medicinal peat. Woody along with hints of Parma Violets, manure, earth and liquorice.
Palate: Barley sweet but the saltiness balances. Woody with hints of coffee, earth and cigar smoke. Bracing and intense with medicinal peat, sweet peat and tar.
Finish: Long, mouth-watering and coastal with the sweet barley acting like a partial buffer. Lovely coffee and Parma Violet finish.
Comment: A lovely, mature Islay malt which displays an excellent complexity of peat aromas and flavours.
