Tasting notes

Taster Martine Nouet

Nose: Big, intense. Orange blossom honey. Stewed apple and a meaty note. Vanilla swirls up with biscuit notes. Rather complex. Orange juice (with the pulp).
Palate: Syrupy, thick, oily. Sweet at first then the tongue is kicked by a fizzy spicy explosion. Cooked fruit in honey.
Finish: Fruity and spicy.
Comment: Fruit in disguise! A rich and powerful dram. Certainly not a whispering whisky. Buoyant and uplifting.

Taster Dave Broom

Nose: Pale in colour but, slightly counter intuitively, densely rich in character suggesting this is distillate, not oak, driven. Grows in presence with water, even revealing some camphor.
Palate: Big, burnt and slightly meaty midpalate with, again, more impact than the hue suggests. Oily and dense.
Finish: Clean and surprisingly short.
Comment: A good example of mature Mortlach character without the close attentions of oak.
