Tasting notes
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: A Chinese takeaway – sweet 'n' sour, hoisin duck, spring onion, prawn crackers, starchy white rice. Charred oranges, oak shavings, salt and some red chilli. Prickly alcohol.
Palate: A chewy, plasticky palate that boasts some of that five-spice, sweet 'n' sour, alongside cheap, chalky milk chocolate, bitter pink grapefruit and chocolate sponge pudding. Embers in the fireplace smoulder.
Finish: Chocolate with tingly, dried chilli flakes.
Comment: Egg fried rice, sweet 'n' sour chicken, and that Islay whisky, please…

Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Big bold nose, that Islay peat is hiding behind sweet sticky molasses, barbecued pineapple and honey chilli. Salted and dried pork. The ABV makes its presence known. Fresh wood shavings too.
Palate: That wonderful grilled pineapple and chilly prickle leaves an oily, mouth-coating deliciousness. Some citrus too zips across the palate. Coal tar soap lurks just at the end.
Finish: Long, sweetness, dark chocolate, lime and chilli.
Comment: Good heady dram with great smoke when it shows itself.
