Tasting notes
Taster   Annabel Meikle
Nose: Bramble and apple crumble with toasted topping as if cooked in a wood fired oven. Dried sour cherry and lots of Autumnal fruits with water.
Palate: Toasted teacake and a fiery chilli and ginger heat. Prosciutto and mostarda di frutta. Herbal cardamom and mint chocolate develop with time.
Finish: Big and busty –a bear hug of a dram.
Comment: Classic and just what I would have expected from this distillery as well.
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Malty and slightly lactic. Big. Dairy parlour, farmyard. Straw. There is a rustic scent here. Quite enticing. Clover honey. With water a grassy note.
Palate: Sweet at first then drying on spices and a dusty feel. The same rustic flavours. Fruity cheese (comté?). Hazelnuts. The alcohol is biting and numbing.
Finish: Dry, lactic, grassy.
Comment: This whisky takes you for a ride in the countryside. The nose especially has retained farm aromas. The alcohol is not totally mastered though.
