Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Oh hello, this is Sunday morning breakfast: well smoked bacon, oaty black pudding and the sweetness of honey and mustard sausages. Then moves to spent matches and cleaning out the ash tray on the log burner.
Palate: Hot buttered samphire, salty and oily. Roast pineapple and chilli bacon jam. Tangy apricots and gooseberries, all wrapped with a blanket of peat smoke.
Finish: A little fruity, with that peat smoke.
Comment: One for the peatheads. An essay in peat some will adore.

Taster Lyndsey Gray

Nose: Waves of lime and chilli mussels, crispy seaweed, toasted brioche and chargrilled salmon lead, with some undertones of hot plastic and prawn crackers covered in dark soy sauce.
Palate: Full on heat with a seafood barbeque, pickled chillies and tobacco ash. Candyfloss, blackcurrant sherbet and an element of lighter fluid end up overpowering any fruit notes that are left.
Finish: Light in texture with an oily finish.
Comment: Major peat bomb with very little wiggle room.
