Tasting notes

Taster Bethany Whymark

Nose: Buttered popcorn and a hint of bonfire ash. Iced gems, white chocolate, and whipped vanilla cream. Dried apple rings and a little sawdust.
Palate: Light-medium bodied. Vanilla Genoese sponge cake with honey and flaked almonds. A little nutmeg and clove. Fresh mint and celery tops. Tart stewed apples and rhubarb with custard.
Finish: Medium, with green apple skins and cream crackers, then lingering on creamy hazelnuts.
Comment: A pleasant whisky that doesn’t ask too much of you to enjoy it. I respect that.

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: An intriguing mix of delicate florals (elderflower, chamomile, calendula), blossom honey, Berocca vitamin tablet (orange), milk chocolate, vanilla essence and toffee cake. Initial whiff of talc and latex gloves, but this dissipates.
Palate: Very light. Mandarin juice, chamomile tea with honey. Chalk candy, orange blossom water, ripe pear. Slightly flinty. Another whiff of latex.
Finish: Medium. Plays out on those core orange and floral notes.
Comment: What at first seemed simple showed complexity. Unusual.
