Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Classic, crisp, grainy almost pot still aromas with oily marzipan, vanilla and tart citrus. Herbal with a rye-like demeanour. Hints of baked melon, banana and apricot. Water shows its youth.
Palate: Oily with honey and citrus. The crisp, grainy spices are hidden but begin to emerge and add a frisky, tongue tingling element. Some squashed apricot and banana. Water brings forward the oak.
Finish: Intense, quite drying and grainy with a touch of young, herbal rye-like spirit notes showing.
Comment: You have to love its youthful intensity.
8.3
Taster   Charles Montanaro
Nose: Light straw, hints of dehydrated pears, leading into marzipan and currants. Much less harshness on the nose then expected from the ABV.
Palate: Ester, turpentine. Quite creamy, with tones of pungent rubber with light tropical fruits shyly shining through.
Finish: Astringent and powerful with restrained vanilla and delicate honey mustard.
Comment: Difficult to get my head around, an enigma as to its position in the market. Even diluted, it’s hard to discern any identity.
