Tasting notes
Taster   Annabel Meikle
Nose: Walnut whip and sweetened Turkish coffee. Marrons glacés and a hint of cow gum glue. Plum and hoisin sauce. Polished teak.
Palate: Barrels over your palate with dry oloroso and warm oily woodiness in control. Extraordinarily easy to drink at full strength. Toasted coffee bean, figs, prunes, black fruits. Treacle toffee and liquorice spiciness curls around your tongue.
Finish: It has an express and lively warmth, and surprisingly short finish.
Comment: Powerful whisky with a velvet touch – those clever people at Glenfarclas do it again.
8.8
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Toffee, demerara sugar, Dutch waffles, cinder toffee, ginger root, white chocolate. Some savoury edges with prosciutto ham.
Palate: Viscous and almost mint caramel notes. Very fruity, but has dark and hedgerow berries to it, drizzled honey. Those Dutch syrup waffles, A little bitter coffee grinds just at the end.
Finish: Quite short but drying with some great oak spices.
Comment: A great example of sherry maturation. A little water helps too.
