Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Rich oak. Sweet fruit notes. Dry apricot, damson plums. Walnut stain.
Palate: Syrupy, thick but so astringent. Cocoa beans. So much oak. The dried fruit is covered by a thick coat of dark chocolate. Coffee beans too.
Finish: Dry,bitter, not as long as expected.
Comment: An old fellow which has been drowned in oak. Where is the distillery character?
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Dense, yet sweet. Mix of coffee, dusty sherried notes. Sooty smoke. Goes deep into leaf mould, carbonised fruits, burnt sticks, then menthol.
Palate: Dry,firm tannic structure. There's residual sweetness here, the cask has had such huge influence. Tight even with water and a little too bitter for me.
Finish: Slightly astringent. Bitter chocolate.
Comment: Just too much cask influence for the sake of balance.
