Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Intense. Oaky and malty. Toasted brown bread. Roasted coffee beans. Getting rubbery. Sherry notes unwinds. Walnut stain. A muscular but complex nose. Opens of dried fruit and oriental spices. Now, it is enticing!
Palate: Sweet at first then oak brings in astringency. And alcohol a biting feel on the tongue. But a pleasant flavour of cappuccino and pepper. A few drops of water (just a few) brings out creamy toffee and spice dust.
Finish: Dry, spicy, with a walnut aftertaste.
Comment: A difficult but enticing nose. Give time to this whisky to let it reveal its intricacy.
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Melting sugar, sea salt caramel, a little waxy, scented candles, pine needles, menthol tissues. Big stuff, lots of layers, aromatics, nuts and spices too.
Palate: Mellow and smooth to start, a tickle of dry fruit, violets, coffee beans and a lovely sherry bitter edge.
Finish: Astringent with floral notes. Big alcohol notes, but be careful with water, not the greatest swimmer in the pack.
Comment: Takes its time to open but well worth it.
