Tasting notes

Taster Annabel Meikle

Nose: A ham roasted with maple syrup, monkfish with a tamarind glaze - all on the barbeque with fresh bonfire smoke to boot. Fruit chutney. Lime and brine come with water.
Palate: A lovely chewy, chunky mouth filling dram - venison carpaccio and heather hearth. One of those whiskies that makes you want to jump right in.
Finish: I loved this without water, it doesn’t need it.
Comment: I kept on changing my mind about this but the smoke adds an amazing dimension.

Taster Martine Nouet

Nose: Fresh grassy profile. With a distinctive smoky aroma. Like the rest of a bonfire after a summer shower. Floral. Meadowsweet flowers.
Palate: Sweet and smoky. Round, then drying on smoke with an earthy touch. Oatcakes, lemon posset. Garden mint. A hint of white pepper as well.
Finish: Dry, still smoky, with a sweet almond aftertaste to it.
Comment: A pleasant summertime whisky with a lively spiciness and a grassy character. And that smoke! So unusual for a Glenfiddich but it suits it well.
