Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Almonds, marzipan at first. This needs time to open and move away from the initial cardboard notes but when it does, you get black banana, white truffle and leather.
Palate: Minerality...this could be made of granite! Sandlewood, a hint of oak spice, nutmeg and ginger.
Finish: Leather (vintage) with waxed jackets, wet hay and something to do with horses.
Comment: The whisky for a mason; lots of structure, stone and hard work.
8.3
Taster   Annabel Meikle
Nose: Poached pears with saffron, hints of fudge. Gin like botanical notes like fresh coriander. Solventnotes that reminded me of hot paper from a photocopier. Thin and tight.
Palate: It lacked body and I struggled to find flavour. Cooling like watered down mint, then an odd spicy dryness.
Finish: Crisp, slight and short.
Comment: Quite a shadowy spirit.
