Tasting notes
Taster   Christopher Coates
Nose: Cherries and brambles, plum wine and a subtle herbaceous note of menthol and tarragon. Leathery, with nettle tea and a hint of bergamot. Then Ceylon tea, with cocoa and candied orange peels.
Palate: Pipe tobacco and treacle are balanced by candied orange and plum flesh. All that complexity on the nose transfers to the palate with reinforcements.
Finish: Long, lingering and indulgent. Those leathery and spicy aromas stick around.
Comment: Elegant and with real complexity.

Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Some serious depth here with aromas coming through in waves. Rich olive oil, manuka honey and old school bitter marmalade. Softens in time with rum and raisin dark chocolate and a little chilli spice.
Palate: The depth continues, with black cherry jam, prunes in syrup and the tang of homemade cranberry sauce. The spices from the nose are here too, toasted black pepper and a vanilla-cinnamon.
Finish: Takes its time. Sweetness and spice cling to the palate.
Comment: A truly stonking whisky.
