Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Coconut oil, sultanas, wax shoe polish, dark chocolate and unwashed coffee beans. Raspberry leaf and nettle tea. Prunes in syrup. Charcoal-grilled steak. Earthy.
Palate: Medium-light. Savoury and fruity, like beef cooked with mushrooms, plums and pears. Raisins and sesame snap. Wholemeal loaf with butter. Oak leaf wine. Milk chocolate-enrobed raisins.
Finish: Medium-length. Ends on bread and butter.
Comment: For autumn walks and the dinner after.

Taster Bethany Whymark

Nose: Porridge, coconut cream and maple syrup. Cinnamon latte. Crystallised pineapple chunks and coconut macaroons. Fresh quince and Bramley apple, with a hint of quince jelly (membrillo).
Palate: Medium. Stewed plums, apricots and spiced oat crumble. A little full-fat milk cappuccino. Ground nutmeg and clove. Wholewheat sponge cake and raspberry jam. Underlying caramel sweetness.
Finish: Medium-long, on that wholewheat sponge with jam and sweetened cream.
Comment: The fruitiness would make it a great afternoon tea accompaniment.
