Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Tomato stalks, a little sulphur, burnt brown sugar, earthy, Parkin. Fresh ground coffee.
Palate: Big and bold. Bitter dark chocolate, fruit cake and butter, ends with toasted marshmallows.
Finish: Warm and comforting.
Comment: A real ball of treacle toffee bitter sweetness, one for Bonfire night.
8.5
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Heavily sherried. Prickly. Old polished oak in a damp room. Touch of mustiness. Molasses. Dry walnut. Touch of dried figs.
Palate: Sweet at start but the oaky grip dries the palate with a bitter note. Walnutskin. Dark chocolate.
Finish: Unexpectedly short. Dry, bittersweet.
Comment: Disappointing for a 32 year-old sherry character I think.
