Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Another highly mature dram, this time with more steamed syrup pudding, autumn hedgerow fruits, dried citrus peel and that waxiness once more.
Palate: Big impact with lots of perfume, cassia and powdered rose petal. A bosky woodiness moving into sandalwood. Needs just a dribble of water allowing it to expand further.
Finish: Shows its age. Hint of coal dust.
Comment: Yes there's oak but it's old! It is also beautifully balanced.

Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Rich, deep. Floral. Fading rose. Malty. Malteasers. Fruity. Cider apples. Well displayed layers of aromas. The alcohol is quite sharp though.
Palate: Firm. Warm, biting. It can't be enjoyed neat. But the water enhances the oakiness. Apple compote with cinnamon spice.
Finish: Dry and spicy.
Comment: A tough dram to taste. The alcohol strength, still so high after 40 years in cask, takes some of the pleasure away.
