Tasting notes

Taster Laura Foster

Nose: Big, fruity, with a green and floral undertone. Tinned peaches, fresh sheets and lilies, not to mention wood varnish, acetone and nutmeg.
Palate: Warming, with a plasticky mouthfeel – water makes this silky. Big, with fleshy stone fruit before a bitterness comes in akin to sucking on a nectarine pit. Charred orange peel, cinnamon and dried chilli flakes in the back.
Finish: Charred bitter citrus pith and warming chilli spice linger on.
Comment: Not a whisky that sits on the fence. Powerful, fruity, and pretty great.

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Metallic at first, slightly solventy. Fades to release toffee apple. Caramel and limes. Cashew nuts. Barley sugar with candied fruits. Grapefruits and mango fruitiness.
Palate: Dried apricots and mixed peel. Lemon curd or lemon jam tarts perhaps. The sweetness fades to leave biscuits and a cereal quality. Water keeps the fruits clinging on.
Finish: Citrus, apricots and brine linger, but it ends up rather dull compared to the rest.
Comment: The passion peters out. Still very nice, but think what could have been…
