Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Créosote, straw in a cowshed. Moss, damp fence. Opens up on sweeter notes. Hint of demerara sugar.
Palate: Flowing nicely on the tongue. Fresh, appetising. A good mix of sweet maltiness and smoky dryness. Touch of ginger.
Finish: Dry. Lingering smoke. Liquorice.
Comment: A bit puzzling at start. Seems somewhat austere and restrained. Then releases sweet notes. Is it an effect of the rum finish?
7.8
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Smoky and very fruity. Welly boots and mango. Lanolin and banana split. Water tames the ripe fruits and brings out a briny manzanilla like character. Green olive.
Palate: Rooty smoke tongue coating. Water helps this smoothing all the elements out. Fruit salad on an Islay beach.
Finish: Has that mellow slightly decayed vegetation note of a good Guyanese rum.
Comment: Islay moved to the tropics.
