Tasting notes
Taster   Annabel Meikle
Nose: I was immediately struck by the density of aroma, cherry heering, kirsch, and fine kid leather gloves - how it should be treated.
Palate: Silky Turkish coffee with muscovado sugar. Christmas soaked fruits, prunes in chocolate. Amazing finesse to it.
Finish: Bewitching. Beguiling. Beautiful.
Comment: I have to confess I was so excited I knocked my glass over. My notes smelled lovely though afterwards!
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Oaky, intense. Nutty. Peanut butter. Séville orange marmalade. A distant floral note. Some heady flowers (peony). Complex, rich.
Palate: Sweet then a dry oaky grip but well balanced with the malty sweetness. Oatcakes. There is a slight cardboard note.
Finish: Oaky with a ginger touch. Some astringency.
Comment: The nose is promising, the palate a little behind. Still a pleasant whisky. I would avoid water. This is too old to be watered!
