Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: This one comes out fighting, throwing punches full of vanilla pods, slapped mint leaves and sappy wood smoke. Oranges dipped in dark chocolate, then some roasted marshmallow note.
Palate: More fighting aromas here. Gunpower, spent fireworks and aromatic peat take on those sweeter elements of orange barley sugar, vanilla cream and dark chocolate ganache.
Finish: Keeps this battle going between the sweetness and smoke, tropical exotic edges versus peat fires.
Comment: This one is great fun.

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Cranberry and first-aid kit. Pear drop, cardboard, and boot polish. Cut flower stems, Fisherman’s Friend lozenges, olive oil, pine and mossy woodland aromas. Slightly vegetal, but balanced by citrus.
Palate: Surprisingly gentle at first, the power builds like a wave coming in. Eucalyptus and menthol, more pear drop, balanced by vanilla and orange boiled sweets.
Finish: After the wave comes crashing down, it recedes slowly and sweet smoke is all that remains.
Comment: A trip to the coast and a solid dram.
