Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Dehydrated red apple and banana segments with barberries and coconut slices – an indulgent trail mix. Milk chocolate, hay, very subtly smoked malted barley and fudge.
Palate: Medium-light. Plenty of red apple, Scottish tablet and fruit scone. Honey-roasted cashews and Christmas cake (the fruit kind) with a good slab of marzipan icing.
Finish: Medium. Fades on red apple skin, gently drying tannin, and marzipan.
Comment: My kind of Christmas whisky.

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: Peaches and cream, coconut milk and malted milk biscuits – sweetness and light. Then comes the nutmeg and cigar box notes, with a hint of barbequed pork and a hint of sweet smoke.
Palate: More herbal, with sage into a little peaty earthiness. It’s pretty hot – the nutmeg is back, with ginger biscuits, vanilla cream and dark fruits.
Finish: The peachiness returns when the heat goes, with a herbal edge.
Comment: It is quite hot for the ABV –but with time it shows its true flavourful colours to you.
