Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: A little nail polish and leather book covers. Maraschino cherries. Quite meaty – BBQ chicken with lime and honey. There is a pastry note too, fresh baked croissants.
Palate: Sweet with lots of apricot and vanilla sugar. Pastries with icing sugar. A little peppery with some lovely spiced notes. Then the wood tannins come through.
Finish: Dries with those great oak notes, cherry cola and vanilla pods.
Comment: A class Bourbon, with some interesting cocktail potential. Also a good straight sipper too.

Taster Sam Coyne

Nose: Old dark chocolates that have sat in your coat pocket. A slightly vegetal note – coriander perhaps? Banana bread to finish up.
Palate: Coriander – actually very herbal. That banana bread note comes through again – like one of those grown-up puddings with healthy stuff in them. There's the usual spicy characters kicking around; nutmeg and cinnamon.
Finish: A slightly bitter black coffee, milky vanilla and red fruit.
Comment: Curious! Elements you'd expect and others you wouldn't.
