Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Now what is this? It smells like oil and petrol – just like Riesling! Quite herbal and youthful with tart lime, apple and pear notes. Unusual nose.
Palate: Full and oily with sweet, lightly oxidised apple, pear and white fruit liberally coated in honey and infused with petrol. It tastes like a late harvested Alsatian Riesling. Amazingly well balanced and fresh.
Finish: A little short with lingering herbs, oat cakes and petrol.
Comment: I don’t think I’ve tasted a whisky quite like it. Has it been finished in an ex-Riesling cask half full of wine? By the way, I love Riesling!

Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Approaching a cask, the first aroma you’ll get is from the bung cloth, and the same is true here. This is followed by earthen floor and slate. Some ginger snaps.
Palate: Delicate notes of the ginger snaps from the palate, filled with brandy butter and dusted with icing sugar. A little bitter in places, some over-ripe banana and brown pear.
Finish: Lots of oak. Very robust.
Comment: This is more like a Scotch than an Irish whiskey. A boxer in ballet shoes.
