Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: The local timber merchants near where I grew up is the first aroma: all hot metal and sawdust. You then get banana muffins and blood orange pith. Very inviting.
Palate: The level of oak sweetness and rye spice is just super. Built for mixing and sipping. Banana bread, salted butter and prunes complete this complex yet well balanced palate.
Finish: The sweetness stays in the middle of the tongue; the spice hits the sides. Wonderful.
Comment: One of the few rye-based whiskies I could happily sit and sip neat.

Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Raw and earthy with oily marc-like rose petal notes. Dark, toasted, slightly spicy rye emerges along with hints of vanilla cream, coffee and toffee.
Palate: Edgy and raw with prominent marc-like rose petal. Definitely not lacking in spirit character or alcohol. The dark rye notes pummel the palate. That’s intense!
Finish: Raw and mouth-watering. Quite herbal with a dry, slightly bitter ending.
Comment: If this is what I think it is, then it’s showing more maturity than it did two years ago.
