Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Very gentle, a little farm yard, soft goat’s cheese, tweed bolts and some soft wood notes. Very sweet Bourbon and toffee layers, but all vastly fragrant.
Palate: Poached Conference pear, delicate notes of lemon and peach skin. Plenty coming from the American oak in terms of sweetness, a little prickle of spice too.
Finish: Breathlessly swift but very honeyed, those spices giving a little prickle too.
Comment: A simple malt that is great at delivering sweetness, would be great pre dinner.
7.7
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Herbal, grassy and fragrant. Walking through a summer flower meadow, stepping on a path of thyme and lemon verbena, brushing past some violets before a fragrant forest of oak and pine.
Palate: A light-as-gossamer body, carrying a chalky, dusty vanilla core on the palate. Rum 'n' raisin fudge and spicy, dried chilli flakes bring some interest in the mid-palate.
Finish: Dusty chalk and wood shavings.
Comment: The palate was sadly a bit one-dimensional for me following the delicate nuances of the nose.
