Tasting notes

Taster

Nose: Very fresh, like a buttery mousse with chunks of mango. Milk chocolate and peppermint creams. Fennel and a hint of a towel after swimming, then sweet rye cookies with dark chocolate.
Palate: An afternoon cream tea, strawberry cream-filled Victoria sponge, then orange blossom, honeysuckle and sandalwood. Creamy amber, stem ginger, vanilla cream, shortbread and that prickly-smooth rye spice.
Finish: Calming with the amber, sandalwood and vanilla cream.
Comment: This has captured my heart.

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Seville marmalade, dried apricots, mango juice and bark mulch. Cinder toffee and burnt crème brûlée. Fresh blueberry and Greek yoghurt. Nutmeg and cinnamon.
Palate: Caramel, nutmeg and candied orange up front. Herbal, like sweet vermouth. Tannins add structure, but coffee caramel sweets balance it. Stewed fruits linger. Fresh blackberry, too.
Finish: Medium length. The apricot lingers, with a touch of fresh ginger and coffee cake.
Comment: A delightful balance of tannin, spice and dried fruit.
